Summation
#1 Used Litigation Support Tool
Per LawNet Survey (see Survey)
Much
lauded lit support package is most indicated productivity application,
and second only to Windows 2000 in total indicated usage.
San
Francisco, CA - September 26, 2002 - LawNet, an independent, volunteer
network of technology users that includes over 800 major law firms,
has released its 2002 Technology Usage survey. Results show that
Summation, from Summation Legal Technologies, Inc., is by far
the most used litigation support software. In response to the
question "What Litigation Support Tools do you use?"
70% of the respondents identified Summation; nearly double the
percentage of users than the second runner up (Microsoft Access®
at 38%) and a five percent (5%) increase over Summation's win
in last year's survey. This is the third consecutive year that
Summation has been indicated the most used litigation tool, by
LawNet's Technology Survey.
"It's
a great honor to be recognized as the most used litigation support
program," said Jon Sigerman, President of Summation Legal
Technologies, Inc. "LawNet members represent some of the
most technologically astute and far-sighted administrators in
the legal community. To receive their vote of confidence is a
source of great pride for all of us at Summation."
"Our
members look to LawNet as a reliable peer-to-peer resource about
technology trends in the legal profession," said Randi Mayes,
LawNet's Executive Director. "After identifying the products
our members most rely on, we can act as an intermediary to help
members compile and communicate product needs to vendors, and
we can build our own educational programs around the technologies
that are in demand. There's strength in numbers, the vendors tend
to listen."
The
survey records responses overall and also according to firm size,
specifically, to the number of users in each firm (including paralegals
and other support staff). Summation was the most indicated litigation
software overall and also in each category, as follows:
- Very
Large (over 500 users)
- 80% of users indicated Summation
- Large
firms (251-500 users)
- 80% of users indicated Summation
- Medium
firms (151-250 users) -
70% of users indicated Summation
- Small
firms (1-150 users)
- 57% of users indicated Summation
The
only other software product in the survey that had more indicated
usage than Summation was Microsoft Windows 2000 (the Operating
System), at 78%. Interestingly, Summation had the same usage as
Microsoft Word, which was indicated by 70% of users responding
to the question, "What Word Processing software do you use?"
Approximately
481 law firms responded to the survey. The full survey is provided
to LawNet members at no cost. Non-members may purchase a copy
