Embracing Extranets in Litigation - Access Your Case Data Anywhere, Anytime, Anyhow
Being able to access case data anywhere, anytime, anyhow has long been the ideal scenario for many attorneys. The reality of litigation means attorneys require access to their case data when they're at work, on the road, at a deposition, or in court, with or without Internet access. Further they need the ability to share cases and portions of cases with counsel, clients, and witnesses. Often, Internet access is the only feasible way to share access with multiple parties. Sometimes online access becomes so important, or the size of the case becomes so large, that firms look for ASP solutions to host the case for them.

This seminar will explain how a law firm can utilize new technology to set up extranets to allow a controlled number of outside users, typically co-counsel and clients access to case data. The seminar will demonstrate how to customize the levels of access to individual users, and the amount and type of information being shared (i.e. a production set of documents or set of depositions) while also discussing the practical advantages derived from using an extranet, such as ease of access for external users (no software installs required), and cost savings for clients (printing, copying, long distance/overnight shipping costs etc).

Discussion will also include an overview of new technologies available to provide firms with a seamless solution to anywhere, anytime, anyhow, access to case data. We will also consider practical workflows to winnow down and disseminate large electronic document discoveries using those same technologies.

Through review of the various means of data dissemination via extranets, and reviewing electronic document workflows, attendees will be well equipped with possible options for sharing data in future cases, and how to utilize new technology to save costs for clients and their firm.
