Summation and Image Capture
Engineering Announce Enhanced e-Discovery Integration
San Francisco, CA
- April 7, 2004. The enhanced DII import facility in Summation®
Blaze LG/iBlaze Version 2.6, together with Image Capture Engineering's
LAW+Z-Print Electronic Discovery Bundle, facilitate the expanded
processing and loading of electronic evidence and images into
Summation.
While Summation's
popular eDiscovery console gives law firms the capacity to internally
process common forms of native electronic evidence (e.g., Outlook
mailboxes, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and other Office-style
native eDoc files), service bureaus provide a much broader spectrum
of electronic evidence processing capability, especially for large
volumes. For example, many electronic evidence service bureaus
provide:
- Specialized data acquisition services
- High quality processing of large
volumes of Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes e-mail
- High quality processing of large
volumes of native file formatted electronic documents
- Large volume de-duplication
- First order winnowing via key word
and concept filtering engines
- Content text, embedded text, fielded
data and metadata extraction
- Large volume "petrification"
(conversion to image file format) for review, redaction or presentation
- Customizable spreadsheet processing
options
Service bureaus and
law firm office services departments that have selected the LAW
software suite, can now empower their litigation team customers
to effectively handle, not just survive, the explosion of electronic
evidence in day-to-day litigation and regulatory matters. With
the LAW / Z-Print bundle, service bureaus can export processed
eDiscovery into an eDII file for immediate load into Summation.
ICE has seamlessly
integrated their Z-Print and LAW software to provide the new Electronic
Discovery Bundle. Now it is even easier to extract, convert, print,
QC, endorse, and produce load files for popular litigation databases
and trial presentation applications. In addition, users can easily
share their project across multiple machines and eliminate the
need to manually select files for each system.
Many legal professionals
are required to produce large collections of documents in a variety
of formats. Some of these exist in e-mail messages and attachments,
while others are stored in popular office document formats or
images. Z-Print is a powerful utility to deconstruct e-mail archive
files, generate native electronic files for loading into Summation
and then batch print or convert those files to TIFF image files.
Key Z-Print features include:
- Captures e-mail header information
from Outlook .PST files
- Captures document metadata from electronic
files
- Captures native file attachments
with relationships to source e-mail messages
- Customization of included file types
- Conversion of all supported file
types to TIFF images
- Captures full-text from text-based
files
- Batch printing of office documents
or e-mail
- Supports dozens of file types
- Recursive printing of selected folder(s)
- Generation of a folder summary by
file type
Z-Print also comes
with a TIFF printer, so the same batch process used to print multiple
documents can be used convert those documents or e-mail messages
to TIFF images simply by selecting the TIFF printer as the active
printer. This is a tremendous time and paper saver, completely
eliminating the need to print and scan the documents to get them
in an image format. The documents (in image format) can then be
viewed using virtually any image viewer and/or imported into a
document management application for easy retrieval.
Z-Print supports
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (e-mail), WordPerfect,
Lotus 1-2-3, Text, HTML, Adobe Acrobat (*.pdf), Compressed Archives
(*.zip), Images (*.tif, *.jpg, *.bmp), and more.
Key EDD features
and enhancements in iBlaze Version 2.6 include:
- Search, retrieve, view, analyze and
manage native file based e-mail and electronic documents alone,
or in tandem with, paper or image-based documents, transcripts,
issues and events.
- Filter and search e-mail, attachments,
or electronic documents alone, then expand search results to
include family summaries.
